School - Week Two

Walker had a great first week at school. Except for the first day, each day was reported "fun".

Sadly, the "fun" is not to be continued. Walker woke up Tuesday morning dreading school and begging not to go. He was prepared with a list of excuses why he cannot attend. Walker is a complainer - his glass is always half empty.
He now reports liking nothing about school: hates music, art, PE, lunch, everything. I only hope he gets through this attutide quickly so the fun can return. I have spoken to his teacher, and she reports he is fine, so maybe he only complains to me.

This week is "Howdy Week". I am not exactly sure why, but it is. Every day the kids wear something special: a team jersey, slippers (slip into new friendships), and hat (hats off to the new school year).
Today was a big assembly - rah, rah, rah. New teachers were recognized, new students were recognized and it was a lot of fun (of course, except to Walker). I imagine that he is overwhelmed. The sheer size of the school is huge (600 students!)

The principal's enthusiasm and excitment is contageous. From experience, I know that the principal sets the stage and attitute of the entire school. Mrs. Benson - you rock.
